Uragu, insatiable hunger from the depths Empty

*The beast sleeps fitfully, twitching and grumbling in her slumber, her mind a cacophony of memories too jumbled to separate.....yet there are some....clearer than others, back before the surface, back before the liberation of Szith morcane, decades, centuries even they linger, shadows in the mists of her mind*

Uragu (though that was not her birth name) was born to a herbalists family in the woods, a quiet little place visited frequently by villager and traveler alike, her mother had encountered something in the woods that had taken quite a fancy to her and a child was born from this pairing. Upon seeing the child for the first time with her pale blue skin and fin-like ears the husband had left enraged at the fact that something had lay down with his wife, and so the little blue girl was left with only her mother to care for her.

as time went on she grew, learning the little things about her mothers craft and all the regular customers coming to visit and trade, she was less than 10 summers old when someone had approached her mother offering a sizable sum of gold for her little blue delight, though she turned down the offer with indignation something still glimmered in the eye of the trader and it would not be the last they would be seen. In fact their return would be sooner than anticipated, as night fell a few cycles later the trader returned.....however..... they brought some more unsavory associates with them. Fearing for their lives mother and daughter fled into the forest nearby, knowing the immediate land around the little herbalists hut they sought to evade the group enough to flee to the village.

The traders had other ideas and had surrounded the area knowing they would flee, the pair soon found themselves chased on all sides and eventually cornered into a cave. Uragu's mother told the little girl to hide in the rubble at the back of the cave and so she did, what they didn't know about was the presence of a cavern beneath the little cave they had taken shelter in and as the girl hid in the rocks she found a small tunnel, big enough for the child but not enough for a grown person to slither down. She waited though as her mother blocked the entrance pleading with the traders to simply leave them alone, the malicious glint in their eyes only showed the cold nature of their actions. The mother was beaten to one side as they rushed in to grab their quarry, thinking fast the girl threw herself down the hole and into the darkness.

tumbling for a few moments Uragu finally came to rest in the deep darkness, water trickled down behind her into a small pool and off into the distance, the air smelled musty and only the faint sighs of a breeze and trickle of flowing water filled her ears, only the faintest light reflected down the hole she had come from letting her barely see the damp confines of the tunnel, mosses and faintly glowing mushrooms held close to the pool she had disturbed in her landing. Cycles passed and she grew hungry, the few mosses and mushrooms having sustained her for a little while without poisoning her, she had explored her surroundings only to find the tunnel was blocked by a small rockfall and as her hunger grew she had tried to open herself a passage.

Squeezing herself into the darkness beyond she carried on down the tunnel, fearing every sound she heard but driven by her need to find food she followed the trickle of water that had come from her original point of entry, her eyes starting to get used to the faint illuminations of the oddly glowing flora at least allowed her to navigate and every mushroom, every moss, every strange underground plant was eaten just to keep her going, she had been ill many times and was nearing her breaking point. Finally she succumbed to her exhaustion near a small stagnant pool in a dead-end tunnel and passed out, but her dreams were not peaceful and something approached her from the depths of her mind, a shadowy figure that moved like water spoke to her, its voice deep and warm, soothing and welcoming. She didn't understand it at all but the tone was not aggressive, it felt like when her father used to press his head to her mothers stomach while she was pregnant, the muffled soft words warm and happy.

She partially awoke to see through blurry eyes the same figure emerging from where the pool used to be, it caressed her cheek and stroked her hair from her face, speaking the same words it spoke something that made her feel.....tired, and with that her eyes dulled and the figure slowly disappeared back into the pool before sleep took her once more. Things were different when she awoke, everything had been replaced by the need to consume, a hunger that had to be sated, and so Uragu began to hunt. It was small things at first.....rats, bats, large insects, but as she hunted she slowly changed, her teeth sharpened and her jaw began to alter to accommodate her new hunting tools, letting her hold onto the more slippery creatures she encountered, her flesh began to sag from her bones and she grew a thicker more scaly hide, both allowing her to shrug off the creatures that had begun to fight back against her. As she hunted and fed she also began to grow, her muscles becoming more dense and larger giving her formidable strength, she was still a small child but she was starting to be the equal in power to any grown man.

One cycle she had been out hunting when she had heard strange noises, chattering and quiet whispers, lured towards this strange sound she soon found herself caught in a trap, Uragu's struggling only managed to trap her even more and with angry barks and hisses she was bundled up by a veritable mob of little creatures whispering and muttering. The little creatures had done something to her, strange gibbering that had calmed her down and almost put her to sleep, but with that they had freed her from the trap and clamped something around her neck and wrists, the strange loops chaining her to a large thick pillar near what looked like the only tunnel out of a small cavern. Over time the little creatures had fed and armored her and she had grown to not see them as a threat or food, she was taught whatever her mind could allow and thus she slowly knew what she was supposed to fight or eat and became a watchdog of sorts for the little encampment.

Over 60 years she guarded that little camp, fighting off beasts that threatened feed on its inhabitants, with each creature she consumed she grew and grew and grew, towering over her diminutive caretakers. One cycle however there was a different sound, more strange chattering and whispers and with her growls and barks alerting their presence everything changed so quickly screams and shouts echoing through the little cavern as the settlement was attacked by drow, unable to fight properly while chained to the pillar she was wounded heavily, but with her unnatural strength she tore a chunk of the pillar free swinging it like a great mace and sweeping some very suprised drow to their deaths. However as strong as she was her wounds got the better of her and she was overpowered, luckily for her the drow had seen the potential usefulness in such a guard dog and took her with them instead of simply ending her life.

And so began Uragu's Adventure....
